on-farm assessment of seed yield and some other traits in autumn sown chickpea varieties at kurdistan province

in order to select high yielding and cold tolerant kabuli type chickpea entries in the farmer’s fields and introducing new cultivars to native chickpea producers, this trial was conducted in latin square design layouts with five genotypes including four selected entries as well as one local check (djam) in autumn sowing under rainfed conditions in one cropping season (2009-10) at highlands of kurdistan province. in the present study, moreover to routine recordings during growth period, consist of days to flowering and maturity, plant height and 100 seeds weight, seed yield of each variety was measured and wrote down. combined analysis of variance were accomplished on raw data and mean comparisons were done. the results indicated that genotype namely sel93th24460, which confirmed frequently as a cold tolerant, high productivity and stable entry in different experimental activities, produced more than 1400 kg/h seed yield and it had also significant priority against check and some of other entries. the lowest seed yield was produced by sel95th1716. with respect to high seed yield and desirability of other traits, the variety sel93th24460 has considered for registration as a new cultivar for cold dry land areas.
